What Is a Dry Bag?

A dry bag is a waterproof bag, usually closed with a roll-top, that keeps clothes, electronics and gear dry on the water and in heavy weather. The body is made from coated fabric such as PVC tarpaulin or TPU, and the seams are fused by high-frequency welding rather than stitched, so there are no needle holes for water to pass through. Size depends on what you carry. Small 3 to 6 litre bags such as our PVC roll-top dry bag with clear window hold a phone, keys and wallet. Which Dry Bags Suit Kayaking, Swimming and Travel?

For paddling, a 10 to 20 litre roll-top with a D-ring for clipping to deck lines is the standard choice, and our Waterproof Dry Bag for Kayaking range covers it. How Are Our Waterproof Dry Bags Tested?

Roll-top dry bags rated IPX7 go through a full water-immersion test of two hours or more on sampled units from every batch, closed with three folds as the user would close them. Weld peel tests run at the start of each production run, buckles and webbing are pull-tested, and fabric is checked for abrasion and colour fastness. When customers inspect shipments, we follow the full procedure of unboxing, vacuum extraction, a 24-hour static rest and an air-leak determination. Can Dry Bags Be Made With Your Logo?

Dry Bag FAQ

Are dry bags fully waterproof?

A welded roll-top dry bag folded at least three times keeps out rain, spray and short immersion, and our standard models are rated IPX7. For long submersion, choose a bag with an airtight zipper rated IPX8.

How do you close a dry bag properly?

Clear sand from the opening, line up the sealing strip, push out excess air, fold the top tightly at least three times, then clip the buckle. Fewer than three folds is the most common cause of leaks.

What size dry bag do I need?

A 5 litre bag holds a phone, wallet, keys and a light jacket. 10 to 20 litres suits a day of kayaking with spare clothes. 30 litres and above suits camping kit and multi-day trips.

Do dry bags float?

A sealed dry bag with air inside usually floats, as long as its contents are lighter than the water its volume displaces. Heavily packed bags may sink, and a dry bag is never a flotation device.

PVC or TPU: which dry bag material is better?

PVC tarpaulin is tough, abrasion resistant and economical. TPU is lighter, more flexible in cold weather and PVC-free. Both are welded and both can be fully waterproof.

What is the MOQ for custom dry bags?

The MOQ is 300 pieces per design, including your logo, and sizes of one model can usually be split within the order.
